Annual Short Story Contest
Marquette Monthly has hosted an annual Short Story
Contest since 1990. It is open to all U.P. fiction writers. A
$250 cash prize is awarded to the author of the winning entry,
which is also published in the MM.
Contest Guidelines
All entries must be works of fiction no longer than
2,500 words, never before published, typed and double-spaced
The authors name, address and phone number,
plus the storys word count, should be typed on a cover sheet
ONLY. The authors name should not appear on any page of
the actual story
The contest is open to Upper Peninsula residents only
A $5 entry fee (check or money order) must accompany
the submission
One submission per writer
Entries will not be returned
The winning story will be published in the April issue
of Marquette Monthly. MM purchases first North American Serial
Rights (the author is free to seek further publication and retains
copyright)
The deadline is January 31 of each year.
(postmarks or deliveries after this date cannot be accepted)
